Mother faces DUI, other charges
after wreck involving kids
The woman who crashed her vehicle on Smithfield Road earlier this month with children aboard has been charged with DUI, three counts of wanton endangerment and second-degree assault.
Shelbyville Police arrested Buffy Flanagan Dec. 18 on a warrant. According to a press release, Flanagan was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol about 5:40 p.m. Dec. 8 when she supposedly swerved to miss a truck that was stopped in the roadway. Her vehicle then left to road, struck a tree and overturned. After coming to rest back in the road, her vehicle struck another vehicle. Her three children, all under age 11, were in the car with her.
Also, a Shelbyville man faces drug charges after Shelbyville Police served a search warrant on his home at 79 Rose Street Dec. 17.
Officers said they found marijuana and crack cocaine, along with associated trafficking paraphernalia, and more than $1,000 in cash, which, they said, is also related to drug trafficking.
Roninque Marshall, 25, was charged with trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in marijuana more than 8 ounces, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Meredith is coordinator of the Shelby County Backpack Project Inc., which feeds hundreds of children every weekend who would probably otherwise go hungry.

When it was time to settle down somewhere a little more permanent, he again looked toward Shelby County; it has been his home since 1992.

From the 'back barn' to the show ring

It has been a long time and a lot of good horses since Mike Spencer started grooming in the "back barn" for legendary saddlebred trainers Charles and Helen Crabtree. Barely a teenager, Spencer went to work as a groom for the Crabtrees. He was assigned to work in the barn in the back of the property.
